ABOUT THE 60TH YEAR LOGO

The ODTÜ 60th Year Logo, was designed to be the symbol of the 60th Anniversary of ODTÜ’s establishment, and to be used in the framework of the activities that will be organized throughout the 2015-2016 academic year.

In January 2015, a restricted competition was organized for the design of the logo. 13 designers from among alumni and faculty of the Department of Industrial Design who had products in the field of graphic design were invited to the competition, which was realized with the support of the Department of Industrial Design.

The designs were evaluated by a jury comprising the then Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. Ali Cengizkan, ODTÜ Industrial Design Department Chairperson Prof. Dr. Gülay Hasdoğan, ODTÜ Industrial Design part-time professor Hasan Saltık, Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts Lecturer and designer Emre Senan, ODTÜ Industrial Design Department graduate and Özyeğin University Communications Design Program academician Ass. Prof. Dr. Özlem Özkal, and ODTÜ Industrial Design Department lecturer Dalsu Özgen Koçyıldırım.

The logo designed by Ass. Prof. Dr. Hakan Gürsu from the Department of Industrial Design was selected from among 20 designs submitted by 8 designers.

"I feel proud to have designed this logo for the 60th anniversary of the founding of Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi, of which I am a graduate as well as member. I believe that, with this minimalist logo that carries our message in clear and plain terms, we have reached the visual that was aimed to reflect the rootedness and leadership of our university. I wish that our university, which finds a place among the top universities in all important national and international rankings, will continue its existence for many more years to come, and I thank you."
